The Department for Transport provides financial support to drivers to facilitate the transition to clean, efficient electric taxis.
A multi-million pound Plug-in Taxi Grant programme will give taxi drivers £6,000 off the price of a new vehicle.
This is in addition to Government programmes to rollout EV charging stations across the UK.
What’s more, taxi drivers switching to the electric TX could save around £6,600 in fuel costs each year*.

In addition to the national Plug-In Taxi Grant, the following grants are also available in your region.
Drivers who work in the clean air zone (if eligible) can apply for up to £10,000 (two annual payments of £5,000). towards the running costs of an Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) taxi.
The ‘Switched on Taxis loan’ from Energy Saving Trust offers a 0% interest loan available on the purchase of a new TX Electric Taxi, available to Hackney Carriage vehicle owners licensed in Scotland.

Incentives are still available for taxi drivers, up to £3,464 in maintenance costs.

Models used for comparison: TX4 Euro 6 and TX; 5. Charging method: home charging overnight to full battery before start of work and rapid charging for 20mins when the battery is flat; 6.
